BOD: Gender Play Through Drag with Jasmania

  • Cactus Club 2496 South Wentworth Avenue Milwaukee, WI, 53207 United States (map)

Led by drag king Jasmine McMasters (they/them), also known as Jasmania (they/he), this hands-on workshop focuses on essential drag king makeup skills, with an emphasis on masculinizing contour techniques. Jasmania and Kayle Karbowski of Other Dust will co-lead a discussion exploring the spiritual roots of Drag to expand into a contemporary lens of Drag as a playground of gender and identity expression/formation/fluidity. Participants will also begin developing their own performance personas as Jas shares insights from their personal journey through drag and self-discovery. Whether you're new to makeup, curious about drag, or exploring your gender expression, this workshop offers a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all identities.

Some supplies will be provided, including a range of makeup products for all skin tones and brushes. However, participants are encouraged to bring any makeup they already own or want to learn how to use.

Project support provided by The Open Fund, through the Poor Farm with funding from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Ruth Foundation for the Arts.
